Impractical Problems (demo)
A downloadable game for Windows
You are a play tester, who has been asked to complete puzzles to help train an artificial intelligence and to test out some new experimental physics device. You don't know anything about the AI, other than it will be watching how you solve puzzles.
Impractical Problems is a first-person 3d puzzle platformer inspired by games such as Portal and Quantum Conundrum. The game (and demo) are still a work in progress, with items such as materials, level layout and some mechanics subject to change. The demo gives you an idea on what the gameplay is like and if it is something you would like to see more of.
The video shows how even the simplest puzzle can have multiple solutions, even when provided with just a ramp and a cube.
The demo has replay-ability, with most of the puzzles having multiple solutions (as shown above), as well as a sandbox level where you can toy around with the game mechanics, a creative solution puzzle, where you are given a majority of the game's mechanics (limited only by the number of ramps and large cubes) to come up with your own solution, as well as a timed level, where you complete a puzzle in the fastest time you can (to access these levels, go to "puzzle select").
The main elements of the demo featured are Ice and Glue. More will be added in a full release.
Impractical Problems - What's your solution?
Donations are completely optional, but will help with ongoing development of the full release (although you playing the demo and giving feedback does too!).
