Update 1.2

Hello everyone!

Update 1.2/"The Stopwatch update" is now available in the current demo build!

There are many new features that have been added, including the long anticipated stopwatch, purpose built "Timed Puzzle" and (local) leaderboards!

The full changelog is listed below:

  • A brand new timed level is being added!
    • Almost all of it is done, just a bit more testing before its good to go (see below for current layout)!
    • To play the level (when its released), go to Level Select -> "Timed Puzzle"

  • A stopwatch has been added for the new level (ties in to another additions in this update)
    • It is enabled by default on the timed level. To enable it for other levels, go to Settings -> Misc. -> Show Stopwatch?
      • Your time will still be recorded/saved in the background (in case you decide to re-enable the stopwatch mid-level)
  • Texture change
    • Most of the textures in the game are being changed to a simpler, warmer colour tone. This is being done as the art style of the game is still being worked on and is not yet ready for implementation into the game (also visible in the above screenshot).
      • The main reason for the change as well is that it is much easier on the eyes (not as harsh to view as continuous squares), as well as adds warmth to the environment.
  • Leaderboards!
    • Try to beat all four times listed (bronze, silver, gold and developer times)!
    • Currently, the leaderboards are local and the leaderboard preset times are only available for the timed level (you can still access the times for completion of other levels in the demo).
      • In all levels other than the timed level, the stopwatch begins when you start moving.
        • *The sandbox level is the only exception, with no stopwatch (because there is no end point for the stopwatch to stop at)
  • Background music to all levels!
    • The game felt far too quiet. Music featured in the "Many ways to play" video has been added as background adaptive music in the game
      • The track is "Mediating Beat" by Kevin Macleod (currently placeholder music that happens to fit well)
  • Minor adjustments to levels
    • The sandbox level has had a ramp removed and replaced with a moving platform.
  • Reworked back-end code
    • Simply put, simplified earlier/current code for future me (will help with future updates, as well as readability when I come back to code I haven't read/modified in 3 months and forgot to comment on what each part does)

I am in the process of setting up the social media channels for the game. More about this coming shortly...

Thank you to those who are keeping an eye on this project as well as those who are playing it! Again, feedback both in the comments and elsewhere is greatly appreciated :)
